The neighborhood streets are surrounded by Jos. Campau, Caniff, Conant, and Carpenter. Businesses on the “4 C” roads surrounding us include a broad cultural mix of those representing a variety of cultures, from the original Bozek Market on Caniff with its walk-in meat locker and smokehouse, to the entire stretch of Conant known at times as Bangladeshi Ave. due to the multitude of specialty businesses there. Within the neighborhood are both the Ukrainian Immaculate Conception Church, and the Zen Center, a living Zen Buddhist monastery. Its walkable shopping, multi-ethnicity, and friendly neighbors, make Hamtramck Heights a gem waiting for you to discover.

The first Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church was a wooden structure on Grayling opened in 1913. By 1936, this parish operated a complete elementary school. As the congregants prospered, they were able to build the massive church that you see above. The cornerstone for this church was laid in 1942 but it was some years before the building was completed.1
The Hamtramck High School Community Center is at 11350 Charest St. next to the High School.
Our neighbors on Mitchell Street, The Zen Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 by Hwalson Sunim, Abbot, and is affiliated with Sudeok-sa Temple, South Korea. They offer yoga, a cafe, and a co-op.
